To open the [Color Matching Table] (Figure 1), select Setup >RIP Configuration > Color Matching Table.

1. Open the [Color Matching Table], and click the Replace button. This opens the "Replace" dialog (Figure 2).
2. In the [Search For] field, type SPOTCOLOR.
3. In the [Replace With] field, type a name for another swatch color with a suitable format. NOTE: Color names are case sensitive.
4. Click [OK].
5. From the toolbar, click the Edit Quick Sets icon. This opens the "Edit Quick Sets" dialog (Figure 3).
6. Select the Quick SetA group of settings that is applied to images to create jobs in an efficient manner. you want to edit.
7. Click the [Advanced] button.
8. In the "Edit Quick Set-Advanced Options" dialog, select the [ PS/PDF Options] from the "Print tree" .
9. In the [Spot ColorA specific color or type applied to individual graphic items. Replacement] section, enable the [Use Color Table] option.
10. Click [OK] and close “Edit Quick Sets” dialog.

The "Color Matching Table" only works with PostScript/PDF files. It allows you to use the name of the color, instead of the CMYKSystem for describing colors based on a combination of values for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black; the ink colors used in four-color process printing. In theory, 100% of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow create Black. In practice, the addition of Black ink is necessary to print a true Black. See also RGBSystem for describing colors based on a combination of values for Red, Green, and Blue—the additive primaries. RGB is the basic additive color model used for color video display. Mixing various percentages of red, green, and blue light can recreate most of the spectrum; combining 100% of all three creates white light. NOTE: The names specified in the Color Matching Table must match the names of the colors used in the PostScript/PDF file. If RIP-Queue doesn't find a name used in the PostScript/PDF file, it uses the CMYK equivalent.

 

In order to use the Color Matching Table option, you must have the following:

• A PostScript/PDF that specifies colors by name.
• A Color Matching Table that contains those exact colors names.

 

There are PostScript/PDF files that may be useful for testing purposes. These files are in the "onyx/Samples/Pantone" folder. These files correspond to Coated and Uncoated colors and can be used in conjunction with properly named spot colors.

 

TIP: After ripping your PostScript/PDF file, look at the contents of the RIP Log. This log will contain a list of any named colors in the PostScript/PDF file that do not have a suitable match within RIP-Queue. Once you have a list of named colors without suitable matches, you can use the Replace button in the Color Matching Table to modify the names or use the Add Alias option to add the suitable names. The Replace button is the quickest alternative.

The[ Input ICCICC (International Color Consortium) A group of hardware and software companies dedicated to the development of a specification that is operating system independent and provides the digital imaging, printing and related industries with a data format for defining the color and reproduction characteristics of devices and their related media profile] is not used if you activate the "Color Matching Table" option. It always uses the default printer profile for the "Color Matching Table". The [Rendering IntentA method of mapping color values so colors can be reproduced on different devices, even if the devices have a different gamut. As part of this process, it determines how in-gamut and out-of-gamut colors are mapped. Different methods of compressing are used depending on the rendering intent selected so out-of-gamut color values so they can be reproduced.] is specified by selecting Edit Quick Set > Edit > Change Profile1. A method of defining and compensating for the color shifts in an image as it is shown on a monitor and printed on a media. 2. A specific Printer/Ink/MediaA paper or other substrate that the printer creates images on. combination in RIP-Queue. and click [Rendering Intent] tab.

 

To set the Rendering Intent:

1. In RIP-Queue, select Setup > RIP Configuration > Configure Adob RIP. This opens the Configure RIP dialog (Figure 4).
2. Scroll down the list until you locate the [SPOTRENDERINTENT]option (Figure 5).
3. Select this option, and click [Edit].
4. Type value in the [Configuration ValueRepresents how bright (or dark) the color is. As value increases the amount of black decreases, until no black is present. See also Brightness] field which spot rendering intent you want to use (Figure 6):
   • 0 is Perceptual
   • 1 is Absolute
   • 2 is Relative
   • 3 is SaturationTerm used to describe the strength, purity, or vividness of a hue. Saturation indicates how much color is present. When there is no saturation, there is no color; the more saturation, the more color there is of the given hue.

The [System Defined Colors] tab lets you manage colors that are defined by RIP-Queue. For more information, see System Defined Colors.

The [Print ModeA Print Mode is an individual characterization of Ink, Media and Printer Settings. Print Modes can have any number of variables, intended for different output targets. Some examples of multiple print modes for the same media are: High Speed, Production, High Quality, and Ink Saving Modes. Print modes allow for multiple output conditions on the same material. Defined Colors] tab has the ability to add custom spot colors using [User Defined Colors].
